The Weld County District Attorney's office currently has a staff of 73 employees, including attorneys, paralegals, investigators, victim witness program staff, supervisory and clerical staff.
The office is comprised of nine units:
District Court - prosecutes adult felony crimes.
Gangs - prosecutes all gang-related crimes.
Crimes Against Children - prosecutes crimes involving child abuse as well as sexual assaults against children.
Juvenile - prosecutes juvenile crimes.
County Court - prosecutes misdemeanor traffic, DUI and domestic violence cases.
Intake and Appellate - makes filing decisions on cases presented to the District Attorney’s Office for prosecution and handles all appeals brought by the District Attorney’s Office.
Supporting the six units mentioned above are the Investigations Unit and the Victim/Witness Assistance Unit.
Our Juvenile Diversion Unit is an alternative to prosecution for low-risk youthful offenders who are entering the justice system for the first time.
