Victim Witness Assistance Unit Student Internships
and Volunteer Opportunities
There are many opportunities to have “hands on” experience working with victims of crime including: providing support during court hearings, education on domestic violence and safety planning. Interns will also learn the judicial process, gain knowledge of community resources, and processing of court cases.

Investigations Unit Intern
The investigations unit of the District Attorney’s Office has a number of duties including interviewing witnesses, serving subpoenas and receiving criminal complaints. The intern position for this unit plays an important role in locating witnesses, assisting with background investigations on individuals and conducting research for upcoming cases. There are many opportunities for hands-on experience working with criminal cases, investigating complaints of criminal law violations and providing support for attorneys. Interns will also gain a base of knowledge about the judicial process.
This internship is designed primarily for college students majoring in criminal justice and who are interested in investigative work. This internship is offered for the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters. Legal Internship
The Weld County District Attorney’s Office is able to accept one legal intern each summer. This internship is available to law students who have finished their second year of law school and are eligible to practice under the Student Practice Act.
If you are interested in learning more about this internship, please email your letter of interest and your resume to Chief Deputy District Attorney Steve Wrenn at swrenn@co.weld.co.us. by March 15th prior to the summer you would like to intern.
