Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as a division provides Weld County departments with improved tools for mapping, analysis, and land management. The Board of Weld County Commissioners provides overall direction to the GIS division by formally adopting and approving policies and guidelines for GIS activities.
The GIS Governance Committee was established by the Board of County Commissioners and is advisory to them in the recommendation of GIS policies and procedures. The GIS Governance Committee monitors GIS projects, resources, and schedules; reviews GIS plans and their implementation; and develops and recommends priorities, policies, and procedures for the use and operation of GIS in Weld County.
The primary focus of the Enterprise GIS is the development and maintenance of critical data layers and tools which provide the framework for analysis and decision support. The GIS Division is also the custodian of Weld County Road Rights of Way documentation. Road Rights of Way documents can be researched at the GIS office during business hours.
Weld County GIS provides mapping and data analysis support to all Weld County departments. GIS data prepared by Weld County GIS is made available to Weld County taxing districts that have a data sharing agreement with Weld County. Parcel maps, County maps and Ownership map books are available for purchase at 1400 N 17th Avenue in Greeley.
