Stationary sites (factories, gas compressor stations, fuel dispensing stations, dry-cleaners, electric generating plants, etc.) may be required to obtain permits to release air pollutants to the air.
Permits may be issued that define the kinds of materials that may be released to the air. The permits also list the quantity of the pollutants that may be released.
Permit holders are subject to unannounced inspections by the Weld County Department of Public Health & Environment. These are coordinated with the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment, Air Pollution Control Division. Inspections are performed to determine if the permit holders are in compliance with the conditions defined in the permit.
