About
The Women's Wellness Connection (WWC), which began in 1991, is a program administered by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. It is part of the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP) funded through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The Women's Wellness Connection program offers free mammograms and pap tests to qualifying women with limited income or limited insurance 40 to 64 years of age, with emphasis on women age 50 to 64. The goal of the program, and its staff, is to reduce breast and cervical cancer mortality through the promotion of compliance with routine screening guidelines, and timely, diagnostic evaluation.
Emphasis is placed on recruiting women who have never had these exams or have not been screened in at least five (5) years. The Women's Wellness Connection promotes the wise use of (CDC) and (NBCCEDP) funds to enact efficient, effective, evidenced-based, culturally competent strategies that build capacity in those areas of greatest need.
