Medical Testing

The laboratory provides testing for Weld County Public Health Nursing Division as well as other clinics in the area. For information on the types of medical services provided by the health department, please visit the Weld County Public Health Education and Nursing Division.

Zoonotic (animal-borne) Disease Testing

As part of a state wide monitoring program, the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment Laboratory conducts testing on dead birds found throughout the northern Colorado region for West Nile virus. This testing is done from June 1st through August 31st and the results are entered into a Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment database. The information is compiled, along with the mosquito testing data in our region, to evaluate the  risk of West Nile Virus disease in our population. This risk helps local communities evaluate the need for additional mosquito control and enforces the message of personal protection against mosquito bites. The laboratory is also able to test veterinary samples for Plague, Tularemia, and Brucella if requested.

Water Quality Testing

The laboratory provides a variety of bacteriological and chemical analysis.  Always contact the lab prior to collecting samples.
To Have Your Well Water Tested:

To have your well water tested, please call or visit one of our locations.  You will need sampling instructions and a collection bottle.

These are specific for the type of testing to be done. Use only the bottle issued for taking samples, other containers may not be accepted.  A specific time may also need to be scheduled with the lab for bringing in the samples.  Most samples are not accepted on Fridays.  (All samples must be delivered to the North Site for processing. The time in which test results may be available will vary depending on the test(s) conducted.)

To Have Other Types Of Water Tested:
If you would like to have testing done on sources other than well water (such as swimming pools or storm water) please contact the laboratory for information on the types of analysis that are available, sampling instructions, schedules and cost.

Further Recommendations:
