About Well City USA:

wellcityWell City USA, a national program of the Wellness Councils of America (WELCOA), is a community-wide initiative that encourages employers to develop worksite wellness programs that meet the standards of excellence as defined by the Well Workplace model.

Greeley Well City Goal:

The primary requirement for achieving a Well City USA designation is that 20 percent of the community's working population (with a minimum of 20 companies) must be employed by a designated Well Workplace Award winning company. Goal date: December 21, 2010.

Steps to a Well City
  • Well City Steering Committee - A steering committee has been formed to lead the Well City initiative. Members include partners from the Steps to a Healthier Weld County Program and members of the business community.
  • Leadership Support - This initiative is supported by community leaders such as Ed Clark, Mayor of Greeley, Sarah MacQuiddy, President of the Greeley Chamber of Commerce, and Dr. Mark Wallace, Executive Director of Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment.
  • CEO Breakfast - In November 2006, the Well City Steering Committee hosted a breakfast for CEOs of local businesses. CEOs learned about the Well City initiative and how worksite wellness relates to healthcare costs, absenteeism, and productivity. Additional CEO Breakfasts will be held as needed to gain senior level support for the Well City initiative.
  • Well Workplace University - Each year, trained leaders conduct a workshop to teach company representatives how to implement a successful, comprehensive worksite wellness program following WELCOA Well Workplace model. Companies receive resources and tools to help them build a results-oriented worksite wellness program.
  • Worksite Wellness Support Group - Networking and mentoring sessions are held bi-monthly to assist companies in implementing the Well Workplace model and applying for a Well Workplace Award.
  • Well Workplace Award Ceremony - An award ceremony will be held yearly to recognize businesses who have received a Well Workplace Award.
  • Well City USA Award Ceremony - Once 20% of the workforce (with a minimum of 20 companies) is employed by Well Workplace Award winning companies, a Well City USA Award Ceremony will be held to recognize the community achievements.
How Can Your Company Participate in the Initiative?
