Frequently Asked Questions

paramedic6 Question #1:  Who decides the rates for Weld County Paramedic Services?

Answer: The Board of Weld County Commissioners set our rates once a year during public budget meetings.

Question #2: Why are the rates so high if you are receiving tax dollars?

Answer: Weld County Paramedic Services is an enterprise of Weld County Government.  As such we operate on a budget supported only by fees and the collection of those fees.  We receive no tax dollars currently.

Question #3: If I am on Medicare or Medicaid how much will I have to pay to use the ambulance?

Answer:  The service must be medically necessary in order for the bill to be submitted to Medicare or Medicaid electronically.

If the coverage is Medicare, they will cover 80% of the allowed amount and the 20% balance will either be covered by a supplement policy or the patient will be responsible.

Medicaid will cover the service if the service is medical necessary.
