The field aspect of training for the EMT Paramedic consists of different levels of evaluation. These evaluations will be monitoring the new employees knowledge of the operational aspects of Weld County Paramedic Services as well as to monitor the new employees skills and knowledge of patient care in a combination of urban and rural setting EMS.
All aspects of patient care are evaluated daily. This phase is approximately 10 to 15 rides in length and generally lasts approximately 2 to 3 months. The duration of this period cannot exceed 3 months without the written permission of the Operations Manager and Ambulance Director.
The evaluations consist of the following:
Level 1 Evaluation:
Orientation to the stations, fire departments, and posting locations.
Orientation to common nursing homes our service responds to.
Orientation to the Field Instructor Check Sheet.
Level 2 Evaluation:
Evaluation of the delivery of patient care in the field setting.
Level 3 Evaluation:
Evaluation of the operational aspects of WCPS.
Level 4 Evaluation:
Completion of the required exams for the Field Instructor Program.
Level 5 Evaluation:
Shadow rides before clearance for independent duty.
Daily Evaluations:
Completed daily evaluating both operational aspects and patient care.
Field Instructor Clearance Examinations:
During the Field Instructor Program the new employee will be required to complete the following examinations prior to meeting with the Medical Director and clearance for independent duty.

Standard Operating Procedures Exam.

Mapping, Routing, and Geography Exam.

Medical Protocols Exam.

Field Instructor Completion Exam.
Meeting with the Medical Director:
After the employee has completed all of the Levels evaluations, shadow rides, and examinations, they will schedule a meeting with the Medical Director for the service to review all of the Daily Evaluations, Levels Evaluations, and to answer any questions prior to being cleared to work independently in the company.
