Dr. Matthew Ledges

All emergency medical technicians in the State of Colorado are required by the Board of Health and Colorado Board of Medical Examiners Rules to have a Medical Director if they are providing direct patient care as an EMT in any setting.

As of May 7, 2012 the Interim Medical Director for Weld County Paramedic Services is Dr. Matthew Ledges.  Dr. Ledges comes to Weld County Paramedic Services with several years experience as an Emergency Room Physician.

Colorado Board of Medical Examiners

All emergency medical technicians in the State of Colorado are allowed to provide patient care through delegated medical acts that are defined by the Colorado Board of Medical Examiners (BME). 

The Colorado Board of Medical Examiners regulates these medical acts through a document titled Chapter 2:  Medical Oversight Rules.

Chapter 2:  Medical Oversight Rules defines the roles and responsibilities of a Medical Director and the scope of practice for each of Colorado’s levels of certification for emergency medical technician.
