Residential Building Information

construction_plan1 The Building Code, as adopted by Weld County, is dedicated to better building construction and greater safety for the public by uniformity in building laws.

The code is founded on broad-based principles that make possible the use of new materials and new construction systems.

The purpose of the code is to provide minimum standards to safeguard the life, health, property and public welfare by regulating and controlling the design, construction, quality of materials, use and occupancy, location and maintenance of all buildings and structures within the unincorporated portions of Weld County.

As of July 1, 2008, Weld County Building Code adopted and enforces the 2006 International Building code (IBC), International Residential Code (IRC), International Mechanical Code (IMC), International Plumbing code (IPC) and International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), as well as the 2006 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and 2011 National Electric Code (NEC) in all portions of unincorporated Weld county.  Amendments to all adopted codes may be found on the County Website listed in Chapter 29 of the Weld County Code.
