The Air Quality program of the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment coordinates its activity with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Air Pollution Control Division.
The Air Quality program is responsible for assuring that Weld County air is the best possible under the Colorado Air Quality Control Commission Regulations.
The Air Quality Program has the following responsibilities:
- Issuing appropriate Open Burning Permits.
- Investigating complaints about odor and smoke that affect air quality.
- Maintaining scientific instruments that monitor ozone, carbon monoxide, and particulates that are less than 10 microns in diameter, and less than 2.5 microns in diameter.
- Inspecting facilities that are registered and using chlorinated fluorocarbon refrigerants.
- Inspecting stationary sources, or facilities, that emit air pollutants.
- Assisting people and business' to comply with air regulations.
