Mission Statement - To protect
and enhance the quality of life for County residents through the
implementation of the adopted Comprehensive Plan, Weld County Code,
and Building Codes while providing professional, friendly and
quality customer service to the community.
What's New:
- A citizen Rural Task Force has been formed to
recommend ways to implement the County's adopted Goals and
Policies regarding rural land use. Their recommendations
are found in this
Final Report and the associated
supporting documentation. The Board of County
Commissioners is currently considering these recommendations and
will request, by the end of 2009, any follow-up by staff.
If adopted, most policies will require changes to the Weld
County Code and will include a full public review and input
process. See the
2008 Weld
County Comprehensive Plan page for details and background
information concerning the Rural Task Force.
-
Weld County and the City of Greeley
are jointly developing a North Greeley Rail Corridor Sub-Area
Plan for the area between Greeley and Highway 392.
Envisioned as a tool to encourage economic development, the
Sub-Area Plan will look at ways to maintain the viability of the
existing Great Western Railroad rail line that runs from east
Greeley to east Windsor, a valuable piece of infrastructure that
is unique to Northern Colorado. Development of a Plan has
begun with data gathering and a public open house planned for
Thursday, November 19, 2009 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Poudre
Learning Center (8313 F Street).
